My Search for HIM

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been baptized through priesthood authority and have gained a testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and the proper priesthood authority that runs His church. I have felt a stirring in my heart, a desire to REALLY know Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. When you know someone, you recognize their voice instantly, you know what kind of presence they have, you are connected with them on a deep level. I desire to go further, build my testimony of Him.
I have decided on daily and monthly goals to help me get there.

Daily goals:
-Start each day with prayer and scripture reading
-Wake up early and go to bed early
-Keep my home clean, so the spirit can dwell there
-Develop my talents further
-Abide by the word of wisdom https://www.lds.org/topics/word-of-wisdom?lang=eng and use my gym membership more often (try for daily)
-End each day in gratitude through prayer and scripture study

Monthly goals:
-Be someone who is known for their service
-Practice the piano
-Practice singing
-Attend the temple
-Do my visiting teaching at the beginning of the month
-Find ways to serve more than just visiting teaching
-Read my patriarchal blessing

Today was my first attempt. I went to bed before 10! That's a big thing for me. I woke up at 9:30 which is also big, I hate waking up before 10. First thing I went to the gym. I should've done my prayer and scripture reading first because I didn't get around to it until this afternoon after I got my haircut, I'll do better tomorrow.

I want to share my thoughts as I was reading in my scriptures, like an online journal if you will. I decided to start in Doctrine and Covenants and I am glad I did. The first section is full of powerful messages.

https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/1?lang=eng

2- The voice of warning is to all people, no one is exempt, no matter how obedient, we all need to heed the warnings given.

3- Nothing is secret to the Lord. He knows all of our intentions and wrong doings.

4- This is currently happening. Elder Bednar just gave a warning to students at BYU-Idaho and I believe there will be more warnings given at conferences in the future. We need to beware of the wicked that is quickly spreading.

7- When the Lord reveals something it is not a joke or to be taken lightly; it will all come to pass.

10- We will all be held accountable for our actions, good or bad, and "to the measure which he has measured to his fellow man." Basically how you judge others, you will receive that same judgement.

12- Prepare for the coming of the Lord by being temple worthy at all times, good and bad.

14- Some people can already see the influence of the Savior but everyone will come to recognize His arm.

If you abandon your covenants, you will not and cannot be able to recognize His voice. You will no longer know God.

When you abandon your covenants you seek the opinions of men and worldly thoughts, you question instead of ask questions. So many people have fallen into this trap and forsake their God.

17- The Lord chose Joseph because of what was going to happen and what is currently happening.

19- We should not counsel with the philosophies of man, we must pray and follow the council of God.

24- We are given commandments in our weakness that we may understand them. Do not feel discouraged if you are feeling overwhelmed from the commandments, that you may not be able to follow them all. When the Lord reveals something unto you He will do so in your weakness that you may be humble and understand His will.

28- We will receive knowledge from time to time but not constantly. He will only reveal His plan and truths unto us when we are ready for them.

29- Joseph Smith was able to translate the Book of mormon through the mercy of God. The Book of Mormon is a physical item that resembles His mercy.

35- Right now there is a lot of turmoil. One sign of the second coming is that there will be no more peace on earth because the devil will have such a strong hold and influence on us.

36-The Lord will have power over His saints and shall come down to judge and reign because of us.

38- The Lord does not excuse Himself. He knows His ideas are not popular in the world and never will be. They will be, however, always true.

I feel that this section really plays a key role in our lives today, it speaks of so many things happening right now and how we can avoid misery through the ways of the world and instead find joy in Christ. I hope you enjoyed my thoughts, I'm going to start this daily, it's a great way for me to express the promptings of the spirit that speak to my heart. I know the Book of Mormon and all modern revelation is as true as the Bible, if not more relevant. They truly speak of peace and the true way to find happiness.

Also, apparently I'm supposed to warn Europeans about cookies? Be warned then, I guess haha.
